Background
Earlier last year, I spent time with the original Y Derwydd, and it left a lasting impression. A love affair is clearly on the horizon.
So what sets the Noeth apart? It is naked. The numerals are gone. Only a pad-printed sub-dial at six o’clock and the J. Sarnowski emblem at twelve remain, rendered in Jan’s vintage-inspired calligraphy.
Jan’s skill in stone selection is one of his greatest strengths. Without numerals on the dial, the material is allowed to speak for itself.
Case
At 49 mm lug to lug and 11 mm thick, the watch has presence but remains easy to wear. Concerns about fit on my 16 cm wrist proved unfounded. It slides comfortably beneath a cuff and feels balanced, giving a strong wrist presence without being heavy.
Dial
The dial radiates confidence. Our example featured lapis lazuli, dominated by white calcite that recalls clouds drifting across a blue sky. Flecks of pyrite catch the light as the wrist moves, adding a subtle sparkle.
Whether lapis lazuli or malachite, each stone is unique. There is nowhere to hide, and no need to do so. Jan’s choices allow the natural beauty of the material to shine.
Movement
The TY3620-2 movement is calibrated by Jan himself. It delivers dependable timekeeping and a 53-hour power reserve. The entire watch is assembled by his hands, and that level of care is visible in every detail.
Wearing Experience
Versatility is another key strength of the Noeth. Two dial options, two hand colour choices, and a wide selection of straps allow genuine personalisation. Different stitch colours further enhance this. The watch feels comfortable, well balanced, and surprisingly adaptable for daily wear.
What Would Make Me Happier
The Noeth wears beautifully, but the 49 mm lug-to-lug is significant, driven by the TY3620-2 movement. While this gives the watch a strong presence, a slightly shorter or tapered lug design could make it feel more approachable on smaller wrists.
Another option could be exploring a different movement with a slimmer or smaller architecture, which might allow the case to shrink without changing the stone dial or overall balance.
Either approach would preserve the watch’s distinctive character while improving comfort and versatility for a wider range of wearers.
