Background
After spending nearly two weeks with Jan Sarnowski’s Y Sgowt, I’ve had the chance to really get to know this watch. It has left a strong impression.
Rather than focusing on technical specs, I want to highlight the experience. This is about how the watch feels on the wrist, the presence it has, and the small details that start to matter once the novelty fades.
Case
The case sits neatly on the wrist. It has solid presence without feeling heavy. The design balances comfort and confidence, letting the watch feel natural for everyday wear.
Dial
The amethyst dial is a quiet highlight. It does not demand attention but draws you in over time. The cantilevered indices create a sense of depth. Fine lines in the chapter ring add texture that becomes more noticeable the longer you look. It is a dial that rewards close inspection and repeated glances.
Movement
The movement is reliable and smooth. It supports the slim and elegant profile of the watch. Every function feels precise, reflecting the careful design and assembly by Jan Sarnowski.
Wearing Experience
The 7-link bracelet is supple and comfortable. The watch wears well all day, maintaining a balance between solid presence and ease. Whether walking around the city or visiting boutiques, it feels right at home. Reactions from others were consistently positive, ranging from “you can’t go wrong with it” to “I can tell a lot of thought has gone into this.”
What Would Make Me Happier
The Y Sgowt is feature packed and represents superb value for money. I’d be intrigued to see a few subtle surprises, a hint of contrasting colour on the dial, or a delicate shift in the texture of the indices. Nothing drastic, a subtle flourish. It would give the watch an extra spark, while keeping the elegance and confidence that make it so enjoyable to wear every day.
