A Study in Texture With the Pedral Cushion Case in Green

Background

Kevin Pedral, the founder of Pedral Watches, has a strong eye for design. His work feels calm and well judged. Nothing looks rushed or overdone. Every detail has a reason to be there.

Case

The watch uses a cushion-shaped case with a round crystal. This creates gentle tension in the design. At first glance, the crystal looks fully round. But as you look closer, the shape plays small tricks on your eye. It is a subtle effect, and I kept noticing it over time.

The mid-case has fine fluting along its sides. This adds texture without making the watch feel busy. The surfaces are brushed instead of fully polished. This softens the light and keeps the focus on the dial. There are no sharp edges. The curves flow into each other in a smooth way.

Dial

The dial gives the watch strong presence. The case diameter is 38 mm across, which may sound modest. On the wrist, it feels larger. The wide opening of the dial helps with this. The cushion case frames it in a bold way.

The green colour stands out right away. At the centre is the Carreau Tissé basket weave pattern. It is stamped using a CNC-machined mould, which keeps the depth even and crisp. The surface is then finished with circular brushing and light texture.

Around this centre section sit three recessed rings called Les Anneaux Triomphaux. They take inspiration from the Arc de Triomphe. Along the outer edge is a flowing moiré border known as Vagues de Lumière. As light moves across it, the dial seems to shift and come alive.

Movement

The Swiss Sellita SW210-1B hand-wound movement allows the case to stay slim. The watch is just 8.8 mm thick. This helps it feel elegant and easy to wear. The technical side supports the design instead of distracting from it.

Wearing Experience

This watch wears very well. It has no lugs, so the case sits close to the wrist. At 8.8 mm thick, it slips easily under a cuff. Even at 38 mm, it has strong presence.

The large dial opening makes it feel bigger than the numbers suggest. It feels balanced and comfortable throughout the day. The watch feels calm, confident, and well resolved. That sense of balance is its greatest strength.

What Would Make Me Happier

The design is already strong. Still, I would enjoy seeing more dial colours. A small change like this would give collectors more choice while keeping the same clear design language.

I would be curious to see a slightly smaller size one day. A 36 mm version could suit slimmer wrists and change the feel of the design. The strong dial opening would likely keep its presence. It would be interesting to see how the watch shifts at a different scale.
